On Saturday, Aug. 15, book and coffee lovers formed a line that wrapped around the block for the grand opening of Albuquerque’s first romance bookstore.
Vellum and Vine is a locally owned bookstore and cafe that has been circling social media, generating buzz and excitement. Videos of bookshelves going up and romantic, vibey decor had people commenting eagerly about the new store. They finally announced their opening date last week, and the grand opening weekend was a major success.

Opened and owned by Shyann Reichard, Vellum and Vine is a bookstore and cafe focused on romance reads and creating a cozy space to gather and enjoy a sweet treat and a good book. The new store is the first of its kind in Albuquerque.
The grand opening weekend featured local author signing, free tote-bags for the first 50 customers, and vendors selling goodies and showcasing other local businesses.
According to the Vellum and Vine social media, the shop will be continuing to hold events and rotate romance-themed drinks at their cafe, so if you missed the grand-opening, you can be sure to still catch upcoming activities.
The bookstore primarily posts updates and announcements on their Instagram, @vellumandvineabq. Vellum and Vine is located at 2677 Louisiana Blvd NE, off of Menaul and Lousisiana. They are open Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed Mondays.
