Albuquerque Public Schools will begin accepting transfer requests for the 2027-28 school year on Oct. 26, the district announced.
Most students attend schools based on where they live, but families can request a school outside their attendance area. Most APS schools accept transfer students, so families can look for specialized programs, a different learning environment or a school closer to work. Throughout October, schools are hosting tours, open houses and other events where families can visit classrooms and meet teachers and staff.
Starting Oct. 26, families can submit transfer requests online through ParentVUE, the district’s parent portal. APS reviews requests based on available space at the requested school. Families who submit requests by Nov. 30 will get an email by Dec. 8 saying whether the request was approved, and approved families will have until Dec. 18 to accept or decline the transfer in ParentVUE.
For help, contact the APS Service Center through Let’s Talk or at 505-855-9040, or visit the district’s transfers page.
