Silver Horizons initiated a program in Bernalillo County where low-income senior citizens and veterans can get free groceries.
Elderly and veterans can go to the South Valley Senior Center, 2008 Larrazolo Rd SW, 87105, this Friday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. No appointment is needed; show up.
However, you need to provide an ID with your name and details, and approve Silver Horizons’ entry of your details into their database.
The program has already started this Tuesday and Wednesday and those who wishes to come can still go this Friday.
What Are The Eligibility?
To get a free grocery, a criteria must be meet.
A person who is 50 years old or older and veterans of any age with a household income of $1,304.17 for household of 1, $1,762.50 for 2, $2,220.83 for 3, $2,679.17 for 4, and $3,137.50 for 5.
You must provide your proof of age and proof of veteran status.

This program will run until July 22 across different location in Bernalillo County.
On July 11, from 12 to 1 p.m. they will be at Optum Community Center (4010 Montgomery Blvd NE 87109), on July 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. they will be at Tijeras Senior Center (10 Tijeras Avenue, Tijeras 87059), on July 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. they will be at Paradise Hills Senior Center (6001 Paradise Blvd NW 87114), and lastly on July 22, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. they will be at Rio Bravo Senior Center (3910 Isleta Blvd SW 87105).
This Program Helps Ease Household Budget
The Silver Horizon gives thank to Bernalillo County – Parks and Recreation/Senior Services and Optum New Mexico in supporting their initiative of easing hunger.
Their program aims to help thousands of low-income seniors and veterans each month and also help hundreds of grandchildren.
