It was 2023 when Geraldine Begay was arrested, accused for murdering a man after hitting him in the head with an undisclosed object. Three years later, the Albuquerque Police arrested her for the same matter.
Last Friday, August 21, Albuquerque Police responded to a call about a stabbing at the French Quarter Apartment on Palomas Dr., and according to police records, the 52-year-old Geraldine Begay stabbed the woman with a knife.
The victim was stabbed in the shoulder and was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, on Sunday, August 23, the woman died because of her injury.
Meanwhile, Begay was arrested shortly after the stabbing and charged with aggravated battery, then was later charged with an “open count of murder.”
This isn’t the first time Begay has been accused of murder.
A Murder in 2023
Three years ago, in 2023, Geraldine Begay was arrested. She was accused of murdering a man after hitting him in the head. She was charged with second-degree murder.
However, she was found to be incompetent. The judge at that time, Judge Lucy Solimon, ruled Begay “was not dangerous,” leading to the dismissal of her case.
Begay Will Remain Behind Bars
On Monday, August 24, Begay appeared in court for the August 21, 2026, stabbing.
Judge Michelle Dowler presided over the court and ordered Begay to remain behind bars. Her case will be transferred to the district court, where she’ll have a hearing to determine if she will remain behind bars until trial.
