The growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) gives scammers more opportunities to create deceptive platforms that can put citizens at risk. To help address these threats, Bank of America outlines several ways to protect yourself.

Bank of America reports that consumers lose an average of more than $10 billion a year to imposters.
This year, New Mexico residents have filed 6,632 fraud reports with the Federal Trade Commission. Of those reports, 2,357 involved scams.
Those cases cost citizens a total of $36.9 million.
Bank of America scheduled an August 25 seminar to help Albuquerque-area consumers protect themselves from scams.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Bank of America at the Juan Tabo Financial Center. It is located at 2011 Juan Tabo Blvd NE.
There, financial experts will explain digital threats, deep-fake technology, and other scams you may encounter.Â
They will also discuss how to recognize red flags that signal a scam and stay cautious online. Experts will likewise recommend using strong PINs and security questions and learning your bank’s policies.
