A judge sentenced a man to prison on Tuesday, July 28th, after he hit a little girl in the head with a beer bottle and then stabbed her with the remaining shards at a local Albuquerque restaurant.
On April 25th of last year at Saggios on Cornell Drive, Nichalas San Souci attacked an 8-year-old girl after she stepped in front of him to pick her fountain drink. Witnesses stated that after she got in front of him, he hit her in the head with a beer bottle and then stabbed her neck with a shard of the broken bottle. Customers intervened to pull Souci off, and a nurse at the scene immediately attended to the child; the attack left the little girl with 19 stitches, but she survived.
Souci pleaded guilty in March 2026 to one count of first-degree child abuse and one count of third-degree child abuse. He will serve 12 years in the New Mexico Corrections Department, with three years of probation.
