Overnight Crash in Albuquerque Kills Three, Leaves One Severely Burned

Three people died and another person was airlifted to Texas after a single-vehicle crash near Unser Boulevard and Ladera Drive NW on Saturday.

A single-vehicle crash in western Albuquerque claimed the lives of three individuals and severely burned another person overnight Saturday, Albuquerque police said.

The Albuquerque Police Department said officers arrived near Unser Boulevard and Ladera Drive NW about 1:35 a.m. following the accident.

Investigators found that a purple 2013 Infiniti was traveling north on Unser from Interstate 40 at a high speed when it ran the red light at Ladera.

Police said the car went out of control just past Ladera and crashed through three trees in the median. The vehicle then caught fire, resulting in the death of three people at the scene.

Authorities said rescuers airlifted a fourth person to Lubbock, Texas for treatment for severe burns.

As of Saturday, police had not identified the victims, and the crash remains under investigation.
